Online Casino Gambling?C Still Going Strong

The online gaming world has now had its 'Black Friday', when United States legislators sneaked a bill through the Senate, prohibiting money transfers for online gaming for US residents. This is the past, this is the reality. Now the question is, 'Where will online casino gambling go from here'? For those outside the US who are already playing at online casino gambling sites, nothing has changedin fact, their gaming opportunities are better than ever.

In the early days of online casino gambling, United States residents were by far the majority of players on the Internet. In recent years, however, their proportion of total online players has gone downin some cases, decreasing from an 80% share to a 40% - 50% share. A few online gaming operators, listening carefully to the signals from the US Congress, completely avoided a US-based strategyand they are now able to continue their operations without a decrease in players or revenues.

For the individual online gambler resident outside the US, nothing has really changed. The same casinos are available, they will welcome participation in online casino gambling, and they will continue with major prize-winning promotions.

But there may be a benefit for the non-US players, as a direct result of the loss of American players: many online gaming sites need to recoup the number of players, the levels of revenues, and the success that they had previously achieved. What does that mean? Generally, it means that there will be more gaming opportunities for other gamblers around the world. All is not lost.

How could the European, Russian, Asian and other online gamblers benefit? Let's look at the possibilities that may develop in online casino gambling:
Immediate bonus opportunities to register with websites that were previously US-facing: it is likely that there will be new, larger bonus opportunities that a player can take advantage of.

More local tournaments: especially for Poker players, it is probably that more tournaments will be focused on European players and locations. The majority of American players, faced with the illegality of depositing money into their accounts, will gradually stop playing online. There may be ways to avoid the law, but most players will not make this effort. So the tournaments will have a more European focusmeaning that European players will have higher chances of winning.

The future online casino gambling and pokerroom gambling may become dominated by more experienced, skilled and professional players. Jeff Haney writes in The Las Vegas Sun, 'Sure, there will always be a way for a determined American gambler to get his money offshore by using foreign bank accounts and similar methods. Amateurs who play poker purely for recreation, however, will not be eager to deal with such complications and will almost certainly opt to sit out. That would create an online poker-playing population made up almost exclusively of top-level pros' and other sophisticated gamblers. It would be missing an influx of what used to be called "live ones" but have come to be known as "fish" - novice or unskilled players who lose money, the driving force of any poker economy.'

Looking from another direction, however, we may see 'European gambling for Europeans'returning to those thrilling days of the past, when the mention of Casino Royale sent waves of casino-envy through American gamblers. Most likely, the US-dominated gambling culture will shift to a European styleand non-US players may like the changes better. After all, American gambling has always been a more aggressive, less 'gentlemanly' sport than the high-class Continental casinos. Europeans may find that they have recovered their own cultural style of online casino gambling.

Our view of the future for non-US players is positivemore opportunities to play, better new-player promotions, and in general a lot of gaming sites hungry for new players. From the players' point of view, what could be better?
